Hi, I'm Sue!
I'm the creator behind Gãmbi Studios.
My journey into ceramics began about three years ago when a neighbor suggested I explore the Harvard Ceramics Program in my neighborhood of Brighton, MA. It was love at first touch, I instantly felt at home working with clay, recognizing it as a perfect complement to my background in design and art direction.
Currently, I'm in an exciting experimental phase, exploring various techniques and approaches to uncover my unique voice in ceramics. My work tends toward organic, rounded forms inspired by nature, with colors that add personality and joy to each piece. While I am still developing my signature style, I’m particularly drawn to colored slips and engobes, which enable me to infuse my design sensibilities into functional art.
After studying with talented instructors for a year and a half, I established a small home studio where I primarily create wheel-thrown pieces.
My philosophy is straightforward: everyday houseware should be beautiful, functional, and fun. I fell in love with ceramics when I realized how handmade items with unique personalities can transform a space in ways that mass-produced items don't allow. I approach each piece with the same attention to detail and quality that defines my professional design work.
Every object is crafted with care to achieve the highest possible standard while maintaining a unique aesthetic that is made to overlast passing trends.
